The second son of Sri M. Krishnamurthy and Smt M.K. Indira Bai, Pranesh exhibited an extraordinary talent in music at a tender age and could sing one of the lengthy and complicated kritis of carnatic music, ‘Bhavayami Raghuramam’ at the age of five.
His mother, a talented musician herself, nourished his musical talent by offering him initial lessons. Later on, he showed a keen interest for Flute and started professional training in carnatic music at the age of seven under the tutelage of flute maestro Gana Kala Bhushana Sri M.R.Doreswamy. Just a year later he rendered his first public performance. M.K. Pranesh has been continuing his musical journey to this date.
Pranesh has performed at many prestigious Sabhas across the nation. Bangalore Gayana Samaj, Karnataka Gana Kala Parishath, Percussive Art Centre, Thyagaraja Gana Sabha,Sri Krishna Sangeetha Sabha,Malleshwara Sangeetha Sabha,Karnataka college of percussion, Devagiri Sangeetha Sabha,Swaralaya College of Music are some of the renowned sabhas where pranesh has performed and gained appreciation of both the public and the press. Besides, he has toured countries likeNepal,Australia,Fiji Islands,Russia,U.K.and other European countries andUSAthrough ICCR, an International Organization as a cultural ambassador of carnatic music.
As an ‘A’graded artist of A.I.R & Doordarshan, Pranesh has been performing for almost a decade. He has also performed in South Zone Music Concert held by A.I.R Bangalore. Has performed in a programme organized by Doordarshan-Bangalore at RajBhavan, before the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Sri T.N.Chaturvedi. He has also performed in the All India Radio Sangeetha Sammelan programme on September 28th 2013 held at varanasi.
Has played and composed music for several commercial/devotional cassettes and CDs. He is a part of renowned percussion ensemble known as Ayyanar College of Music- ‘Laya Lahari’.
Jugal Bhandhi concerts of Sri Pranesh and Sri Pravin Godkhindi have been well received by connoisseurs of music inIndia andUSA. Sri Pranesh and Sri Godkhindi have jointly released a CD named ‘Milaap’.
He was awarded the best musician of the series by Percussive Art Centre,Bangalore and bestowed with the title ‘Nada Jyothi’ by Nadajyothi Sri Thyagaraja Swamy Bhajana Sabha of Bangalore.
He served NGEF for a period of 15 years and voluntarily retired in the year 1999. Mr.Pranesh has been rendering noteworthy contribution towards Carnatic Music by training several young artists during his free time.
